Machu Picchu / Peru

Machu Picchu, also called the lost city of the Incas, is a pre-Colombian city well conserved, located on top of a mountain, the 2400 meters of altitude, in the valley of the Urubamba River, current Peru.


Recognized as one of the wonders of the world today, Machu Picchu is an impressive place under many aspects. It is those destinations that you must place on the top of the list of places to learn before dying. The city has commemorated 100 years of its discovery in 2011.
The lost city of the Incas exudes energy and enables visitors to unveil a little bit of a people who kept very advanced knowledge, especially for the season. The archeological site is 2,450 meters above sea level and was populated between the years 1450 to 1540. The families that lived there cultivated, mainly, maize and potatoes and they left the city before the arrival of the Spaniards, likely motivated by diseases.
Machu Picchu was all built by stones, and most of them have between 10kg and 15kg - some may weigh 20 tonnes. It is incredible to experience of visiting the ruins and perceive the perfect fit of the walls. A curiosity that makes the place even more interesting and surprising is knowing that the residents were small: men had, on average, 1.55m and women, 1.25m. Knowing this, is almost impossible not to ask how a place so great was built.
The pictures more known of Machu Picchu are the views, which give a top view of the place, but the ride does not end there. After walking by the lost city, you will see it low, the bottom point; then yes visual is unbelievable. When to go to Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is in a region that receives many rainfall in summer, and the period between November and March is not advisable for your trip.High season is from May to September, when there is less rain. Within these months, June and July are the best to know the legacy inca, since the probability of precipitation is even smaller. From December to March it rains with frequency, and, in the days that it rains a lot, the park is closed. Therefore it is advisable to travel when the weather is dry more even.
The average annual temperature in the region is in the house of 20ºC, and falls by almost half in the evening, but in winter temperatures can reach 0ºC.The same tips above are true for those who want to learn Cusco. Although the volume of rain in Cusco be lower, the rainy months are the same.

What to do in Machu Picchu
The Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu guarda temples, walls, houses and several other ruins used by families who lived.
